Our pilot project launched during the pandemic rehabilitated homeless people’s lives on decommissioned double deckers buses, was a huge success and paved the way for our modular housing model.
It was tremendous to work with, and have the support of huge construction firms like Costain, Skanska and Strabag supporting our programme, and most importantly helping us to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need it most.
It also proves that when there’s a number of stakeholders working together for the better of the community then we can do great things.
The recognition of winning the award highlights the impact that the Buses 4 Homeless project has had on the homeless community. The project, which involved converting decommissioned double decker buses into temporary homes, was a fantastic solution to the issue of homelessness, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The collaboration with leading construction companies Costain, Skanska, and Strabag was crucial in making the project a success. These companies not only provided their expertise, resources and job opportunities for residents, but also helped to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness and the importance of finding innovative solutions to tackle it.
The pilot project’s success has paved the way for the development of a modular housing model, which will provide even more sustainable and long-term solutions for those in need. This is an exciting development for the homeless community and for the entire construction industry.
The award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all those involved in the Buses 4 Homeless project and is a significant milestone in their efforts to make a positive impact in the lives of the homeless.
